Tenby Field Trip 2016:
Aberystwyth Geology Reunion September 30th, October 1st and 2nd 2016
The plan is to visit West Angle (Carb Limestone) and Freshwater West (ORS) on Saturday the 1st and Amroth (Coal Measures) on Sunday the 2nd. Low water at Milford on the 1st is at 13.28hrs and on the 2nd 13.59hrs.
We are staying in the Heywood Spa Hotel, Tenby. They have a variety of room types, and the Classic (cheapest) rooms B and B cost £238 for two nights. None are single. They have 29 rooms and many are vacant as of today. They do not take dogs.
We chose Tenby as there are plenty of alternative places nearby. Hotels out in the country are expensive (Best Western Lamphey Court Hotel is £380) and far from anywhere else where others might stay.
Other hotels nearby in Tenby include:
Cottage Court Hotel Narberth Road Tenby about £150 for two nights, they have 11 rooms and no bookings for our date at present. Tel 01834 843650.
The Normandie Upper Frog Street Tenby, £180 for two nights with 6 rooms.
The Imperial Hotel The Parragon Tenby £294 and 45 rooms.
Penally Abbey Country House Hotel, £320 with 11 rooms.
Esplanade Guest house, The Esplanade it is 4*, and has 14 rooms
There are plenty of good bed and breakfasts in Tenby. Go to the booking.com web site to find places and cost but do not book through them. On their web sites they show places being full but we found on calling the places that they are not full. Book through the place directly not though booking.com.
Tenby is about 50-60 minutes from West Angle which has a wide sandy beach, a big car park, café and toilets. Lunch on the Saturday will be in a pub in Angle about 5 minutes from the beach. Freshwater West is about 15 minutes from the pub.
Amroth, east of Tenby has a wide beach, and plenty of amenities.
So if you plan to stay at the Heywood Spa Hotel book soon and mention that it is the Chris Evans party.
Further information will be supplied nearer the date.
