This was arranged for the weekend of Friday 16th to Sunday 18th of September, in the Peak District, and was led by Dave Walmsley.

Aber Peak District Geology Field Trip September 2011 Itinerary
17th September
Leave Hartington 09.30
Arrive Stone Centre, Wirksworth. 10.00
Visit the 3 quarries showing deep water, reef, and lagoon facies.
Leave 12.00
Lunch
Leave 13.30
Arrive Ecton Copper Mine, 14.00
Observe tectonic structures in limestones, minerals in mine waste. Walk along Manifold Valley see ephemeral river, reef tors with caves.
Leave 16.30
Arrive Hartington 17.00
18th September
Leave Hartington 09.30
Arrive and park on old road near Treak Cliff Mine 10.00
Observe Beach Beds, Odin Lead Mine ore crushing ring, minerals in waste, land slip, Edale Shales, Mam Tor Beds (turbidites), Reefs and lagoonal limestones in Whinnats Pass.
Arrive Treak Cliffe Mine cafe (limited service) 13.30
